Pastor Evelyn Rundenza, Co-Founder
Meet Pastor Evelyn, a radiant presence whose life story tells of the love of God. Pastor Evelyn grew up in the Bronx, NY. Pastor Evelyn's journey is a remarkable testimony of Gods transforming power. He showed her unconditional love and showed her her worth in christ. Her story took root during her teenage years when she fervently embraced Christ as her Savior, sparking a lifelong journey dedicated to following His guidance. With over three decades of experience, Pastor Evelyn's journey youth ministry and serving as a counsler under the supervision of church of denomanational leadership. Pastor evelyn stands as a testament to her unyielding commitment. Guiding and nurturing the hearts of young believers, she has left an indelible mark on countless lives, sowing the seeds of faith in the next generation. Together with her husband, Pastor Rod, Pastor Evelyn embarked on a momentous venture – the establishment of Gideon House of God. Driven by their shared vision and the prompting of the Holy Spirit, they created a space where God's transformative love could thrive, impacting lives and nurturing a vibrant faith community. Pastor Evelyn's heart beats for the community, as evidenced by her tireless efforts in fostering spiritual growth and unity. Her passion for cultivating deep connections with God is palpable in her emphasis on personal discipleship and a profound relationship with Christ. As an integral part of our worship team, she leads the congregation in heartfelt praise, using her musical talents to inspire worship. Pastor Tom Owens
Pastor Tom Owens, our Assistant Pastor at Gideon House of God, embodies the transformative power of God's grace. Filled with the Spirit and called to preach during his college years at Lee University in the mid-eighties, his journey has been one of remarkable redemption. With a Master's Degree in Theology, Pastor Tom spent 15 years in pastoral ministry. His roles included 3 years as a youth pastor and 12 years as the Pastor of Covenant Life Church of God in Crofton, MD. However, Pastor Tom's story is not without its struggles. In the early 2000s, Pastor Tom had the privilege of raising up Pastor Rod Rundenza in ministry. Yet, in 2005, he faced a moral failure and drifted away from God, his marriage, and ministry. A decade of spiritual wilderness followed, until 2015 when a severe heart attack brought him to the brink of life. Through this near-death experience, God orchestrated a powerful restoration, bringing Pastor Tom back into a right relationship with Him and a place in His church. Today, Pastor Tom serves at Gideon House of God with a heart full of gratitude. His journey is a living testament to the redemptive and transformative love of God found in Christ Jesus.
Rhonda Owens: Elder
Rhonda Owens, hailing from a small Mississippi town, discovered her faith at a young age. Raised by parents who exemplified servanthood, Rhonda learned the power of love through their words and actions. At just 10 years old, she accepted Christ, dedicating her life to following His path. As a teenager, Rhonda's gift for teaching blossomed. At 16, she began teaching Sunday School, igniting a lifelong passion for sharing God's Word. After earning a degree in Elementary Education from Lee University, she embarked on a life of ministry alongside her husband, Pastor Tom Owens. Rhonda's zeal for understanding Scripture is contagious. She thrives on discussing its depths and inspiring others to pursue a personal relationship with Christ. As the lead Elder of our church, she nurtures believers, encouraging growth through prayer and dedicated study. Her wisdom, born from personal trials, guides and supports those in need. Additionally, her musical talents enrich our worship experience as she leads the congregation in praise through piano and song.
